Makaela Andes
Yoga instructor
Meet Makaela (Insta: @makaelaandes): former horseback rider, whole-self wellness enthusiast, certified yoga instructor, artist, and lover of all things sun, moon, stars, mermaids and fairies. She advocates solutions that are sustainable, effective, intentional and natural; her favorite of which is yoga.
She completed her 200hr Vinyasa Teacher Training in 2017, and it opened her eyes to a whole new world, becoming amazed by all things yoga and spirit-guided. She began teaching for her college's (University of Delaware) Yoga Club, which quickly transitioned into a standing class at the university’s gym. From there she taught at three other studios before COVID led her to teaching her own virtual yoga classes. Her yoga business, Namaste with Makaela Rae, was born. She continues to host virtual group classes and privates, and workshops that are designed to educate on tools for mental well-being, hold space, and cultivate witnessing and connection.
Her yoga classes include a combination of stretching, strengthening, and breathing designed for you to feel more open in your body and mind so you feel overall relief. During class she encourages a mindset of gentleness toward self, encouraging awareness of any negative self-talk and loving it away. She also adores taking and teaching Yin and Restorative classes as a vital counterbalance to the everyday rapidity of modern life.
Outside of the studio you can find her weightlifting, crafting, spending time with family, or watching Harry Potter with her cat, Phoebe, and an egg bagel and coffee in hand.
One of Makaela’s passions is for people to feel heard, worthy, and so loved by themselves. On or off the yoga mat, Makaela’s honesty and buoyancy is real. Her love of yoga is evident. Whether in class or in private, her love of this healing art will positively compliment your spiritual growth and encourage you to feel the joy of being alive.
