Katie Leasor is a Yoga Alliance certified 500 RYT exploring the mental, emotional and physical therapeutic benefits of yoga. She is pursuing 1,000 hours of training with the Prema Yoga Institute in New York City to join the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
She first fell in love with yoga as former college lacrosse player after many years of suffering from hip pain and only finding relief on the mat. Yoga helped her manage the stress of graduate school, and is currently helping her manage the stress of a corporate communications where she works to tell stories about philanthropy at IBM.
Katie's passion to help others led her to volunteer as a yoga instructor teaching chair yoga at the Manhattan Veteran's Hospital. She also teachers karma yoga corporate classes to her colleagues.
As a teacher, Katie believes that although physical injuries, health conditions and modern stress may be the reasons why a new student comes to the physical (asana) practice, it also invites them to find more balance, focus and contentment in their life. Her self-empowering slow flow sequences incorporate poetry, Ayurveda and slow music that encourage students to mindfully re-connect with their true Self and light.
